Fit and Fall Proof

This is an exercise program that focuses on improving strength, mobility and balance to reduce an older adult’s risk of falling. Local volunteer leaders are trained to teach the class. Wear loose fitting clothing and bring water with you. Free. Open to all.

Session I: 9 – 9:45 a.m. Monday and Thursday

Session II: 10 – 10:45 a.m. Monday and Thursday

August Valley Talk

Lots to do in August–a concert rehearsal at the Grand Teton Music Festival, a workshop at Teton Arts, another workshop on floral arranging. August culminates with an Ice Cream Social in Sherman Park in Victor. All our regular programs–Healthy Seniors, Tai Chi, Fit and Fall Proof, Gentle Yoga, Bridge, Mah Jongg, and the Footcare Clinic–are going full steam. Yoga for a Better Life

Yoga for a Better Life. Tuesdays 9 a.m. 

Wear loose clothing and bring water. Yoga mats and gear are provided, or bring your own. Suggested $5 donation. Open to all. 

No matter what physical activities you enjoy, they need to be complemented with a movement routine of lengthening, stretching and breathing.  Enjoy the benefits of yoga by  joining Connie, an E-200-RYT certified yoga instructor, in a gentle Hatha-based yoga practice. This practice is designed to help seniors increase flexibility while building strength and using breath efficiently. 

Possible side effects of regular attendance include:

  • Increased flexibility, strength & balance
  • Increased self-confidence, mental focus & energy
  • Decreased stiffness, pain & fatigue
  • Decreased fear of falling, anxiety, & self-doubt
